Noon Guns

For decades, apparently, these two guns on the tower above the city would fire at noon and let Kabul know what time it was. I would have liked to have walked up that hill, but I was in the company of others and we drove up, instead. Being up there gave me the opportunity to take the down-looking shots of Babur's Garden |

The Old Kabul City Walls
Unfortunately, I only got to see the city walls from a great distance and the Balar Hissar site, not at all. Next time I will be there, I will make sure to see the rest, which will take one high above the Noon Guns Hill. |

What you do get is some amazing views from above Kabul, here the strategic gap known as the Shir Darwaza (Lion's Gate). On the right slope you can see the line of fortifications and the wall, rising steeply to the top. |
